Jackson rethinking commitment to FSU
By Derek Tyson
Athlete J.C. Jackson of Immokalee (Fla.) committed to Florida State in March 2012.
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Watch List athlete
(Immokalee, Fla./Immokalee) has been committed to Florida State since March of last year, but visited Florida for its junior day on Saturday.
Now the talented prospect says Florida is his No. 1, and he could decommit from FSU in the near future.
When asked if he had decommitted from FSU after his Florida visit, Jackson didn't hold back with his response.
"Not yet, but I think it's coming," Jackson said. "Florida, they are my No. 1 choice. The academics are way better than Florida State. It's the SEC, it's the best."
Jackson said he was impressed with what he saw from the Gators.
"It was a nice visit," Jackson said. "They told me a lot of stuff, showed me a lot of stuff, took me around the campus, seen the dorms where the football players live."
Jackson, who is listed as a wide receiver, said Florida is recruiting him for another position.
"I want play cornerback," he said. "They told me I would be playing corner and kick and punt returner."
Though he admits he thought about flipping his commitment to Florida, Jackson said he will probably take his time with his decision.
"I'm just going to wait to take my five official visits," he said. "I'm just trying to sit on things, but I know I'll decommit soon."
