NoleNation recruiting predictions

By Corey Dowlar

NoleNation gives its picks for national signing day. Who ends up where?

Matthew Thomas
No. 1 outside linebacker Matthew Thomas could pick Florida State on signing day, but there are several other suitors.
Matthew Thomas: Without a doubt, the biggest fish left for Florida State. The country's top outside linebacker will likely choose between Alabama, Florida State, Miami and USC. Throughout the volatile coaching turnover, and Booker T. Washington-Miami drama, his projection has gone from one end to the other. But sources indicate the stability of Jimbo Fisher in his recruitment will win out. Projection: Florida State. Confidence: Medium.

Jalen Ramsey: The Seminoles need a shutdown cornerback in this class and Ramsey would more than suffice. The four-star ESPN 150 defensive back will choose between Florida, Florida State and USC on signing day. There haven't been many hints, but Florida State and USC sources appear confident. Projection: Florida State. Confidence: High.

Stacy Coley: One of Florida State's top targets on the offensive side of the ball from the very beginning, Coley would bolster an already deep group of wide receivers. The other contenders include Mississippi, Miami and USF. Coley is ranked as the No. 3 wide receiver in the country and is being recruited by Lawrence Dawsey. Projection: Florida State. Confidence: High.

Keith Bryant: One of the top defensive tackles in the state, Florida State put a premium on Bryant early. The former Miami commitment is now considering the Hurricanes, Florida State and South Carolina. The four-star prospect likes Florida State and so does his family, and likely won't leave the state. Projection: Florida State. Confidence: High.

Tashawn Bower: Florida State was on Bower early after he camped over the summer heading into his senior year in Tallahassee, but faded after his commitment to Auburn. He later took an official visit to Florida State, but there was just too much ground to make up. Bower's last visit to Auburn, an unofficial one, seems to be a little telling. Prediction: Auburn. Confidence: High.

Denver Kirkland: The center of attention in the state of Florida over the last couple of days, the big question surrounding Kirkland has been whether or not he has an offer from Miami. Sources have confirmed that he indeed does, but the damage may have already been done. He will choose between Arkansas, Florida State and Miami. Projection: Florida State. Confidence: Low.

Austin Golson: A longtime commitment to Florida State, the four-star offensive tackle recently parted ways with the Seminoles. Part of that has to do with the departure of Dameyune Craig, and part of that has to do with the surge from Ole Miss. Projection: Ole Miss. Confidence: High.

Wilson Bell: Out of the big schools that have come on to Wilson Bell of late, Florida State was the first. Auburn and Ole Miss were firmly in the picture shortly after and secured official visits, too. But Auburn has seemingly faded, making it a two-horse race between the Seminoles and Rebels. Bell could end up at Florida State by default based on the amount of offensive linemen they can take at Ole Miss, but he really likes the Rebels program. Projection: Florida State. Confidence: High.

Davarez Bryant: Entered the picture for Florida State after Davin Bellamy decommitted. Bryant was offered and came to Tallahassee for an official visit last weekend. He hit it off especially well with Fisher. Bryant will be choosing between Florida State and Iowa State on Wednesday. Projection: Florida State. Confidence: High.

Gus Edwards: Former assistant coach James Coley identified Edwards when he was still on the Florida State staff, and when he left for Miami, carried that over. Edwards will choose between the two schools, but likely heads to Coral Gables. Projection: Miami. Confidence: High.

Michael Johnson: Johnson, still a Florida State commitment, could have classroom issues preventing him from getting to Tallahassee. He was previously recruited by James Coley before his departure to Miami. Projection: Marshall. Confidence: Medium.
