Visits ending for three-star QB Franklin
By Corey Dowlar
Three-star quarterback John Franklin (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation) had some doubts about his college choice after last weekend.
Following an official visit to Tennessee, Franklin liked what the Volunteers had to offer. On his way to Florida State on Friday, he wasn't sure what to expect.
But, apparently anyway, things from the Florida State side were smoothed over.
"Coming up Friday, I was thinking a lot and was unsure, but after sitting down with coach [Jimbo] Fisher and my parents, they got to see it for themselves for the first time," he said. "I just knew it is where God wants me to be. Even though it was my fifth time being here, I got the same feeling I had when it was my first time."
Part of the visit included meeting with some of the new assistants, such as Billy Napier and Randy Sanders. His initial impressions were positive.
"The are all real cool guys and super funny," he said.
Doing a little recruiting of his own, Franklin made sure to get to know the other visitors as best he could. From his perspective, they all had a good time.
"I talked to all of them and we all really enjoyed ourselves and felt the family atmosphere," he said.
With his concerns now addressed, Franklin sees no point in taking another visit next weekend. A trip to see USF was in order, but that's off now.
"I'm done," he said. "I was planning on going to USF next week, but I am done."
