Since then, he's rehabbed and played some basketball for his high school. Football hasn't even been too much of a thought.
But this week at the Under Armour All-America Game, the Florida State running back commitment will refocus on the sport he'll be playing in college.
"I am going to take it easy to get ready because I haven't played a down of football for I don't even know how long," he said. "I just want to get back to full strength and take it easy."
The Seminoles running backs coach during Green's recruitment, Eddie Gran, recently departed to become offensive coordinator at Cincinnati. That creates the usual turmoil that surrounds coaching changes with respect to recruiting.
Still, though, Green has faith in head coach Jimbo Fisher to make a hire that will be good for all parties.
"I am just waiting to see who they are going to hire," he said. "From what I hear, they are pretty close. They have a few coaches, good coaches, that they want to take a look at. I hope they hire a good one, like Eddie."
As for the game Jan. 4, Green is most excited about playing in a familiar place with familiar faces watching.
"Playing in my home city in front of friends and family," he said.
