Brice Hamilton getting early looks

By Corey Dowlar

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Brice Hamilton (Madison, Fla./Madison County) watched on as his teammates fought tooth and nail for a state championship from the sidelines. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound  junior linebacker couldn't play, having broken a bone in his leg earlier in the season.

The Cowboys led for the majority of the contest, but Hamilton felt the momentum swing and a championship ring slip away in a  24-17 loss to Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) University School in the Class 3A state championship game at the Florida Citrus Bowl.

"I was thinking that I had faith in them the whole time," Hamilton said. "I just felt like that if I was there, I could have helped my team and had an impact on the game. We just came up short. I feel like any player could have stepped up and changed the game at any time."

It hasn't been that long since the cast surrounding Hamilton's broken fibula was removed. Now that it has, Hamilton can't help but look forward.

"I just recently came out of my cast and I will start rehabbing in two weeks," he said. "I am really looking forward to moving around and then spring ball."

Although he hasn't received any offers yet, Hamilton seems to be on the verge. Some of the nation's biggest programs are showing some interest. With a big spring and the chance to prove he's healthy again, Hamilton could land one of them.

"I am hearing from Florida State, Miami, Florida, Alabama and a couple more SEC teams," he said. "Right now, I am really interested in Florida, Florida State, Miami and Alabama. My recruiting process is really open, so I am just waiting to see who comes."
