The four-star linebacker from Woodbridge (Va.) Hylton received a written scholarship offer from the Volunteers on Monday, his father, Eric Levenberry, told ESPN on Tuesday. Levenberry Jr.'s recruitment to Tennessee has been sporadic as the Vols have undergone recent coaching changes.
He was a prime target for Tennessee until former linebacker coach Lance Thompson left Knoxville to join Alabama's coaching staff. Defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri joined Tennessee's staff but didn't show any interest in the ESPN 300 prospect.
Levenberry committed to Florida State over Michigan and Oklahoma in April. However, he and his family have long expressed interest in Tennessee. Even though former Tennessee coaches didn't show much interest, the family has kept in close contact with the recruiting office at Tennessee.
Levenberry has also shown interest in Oklahoma. He took an official visit there earlier this fall.
Tennessee is searching for a coach to replace Derek Dooley, who was fired last month.
