Last week, Jesus Wilson (Miami/Columbus) had wide receivers coach Lawrence Dawsey drop by the school to see how things were going.
It is all part of a budding relationship between a position coach and a four-star player.
"We have a great relationship," Wilson said. "He helped recruit me and me and all of the coaches have a great relationship. I talk to him and we continue to bond and he tells me just to get ready to come in and work hard."
There has been definite speculation as to whether or not Wilson would begin in the defensive backfield or on offense. He has the tools to play both positions, but from the sound of things it looks like he'll be catching passes, not breaking them up.
"At receiver," he said. "Probably right there in the slot.
"Coach always told me that he would get me better on the field and off the field, and that was the first thing that hit me. But he tells me that I have talent and I can make a good receiver."
Wilson will take his official visit to Tallahassee the weekend of Jan. 11. Already shaping up to be the largest official weekend visit of the year for the Seminoles, it will be centered around the North Carolina-Florida State basketball game.
But the main attraction for Wilson will be catching up with the coaches and old friends.
"I have already been on campus like five times, so I have already seen that," he said. "I just want to build some relationships with the coaches. I have some friends like Devonta Freeman -- he is one of my great friends. Just build a better relationship with the coaches and that is basically it."
The subject of academics will definitely come up at some point. Wilson doesn't specifically know what he wants to study.
"I am not sure yet, but I want to look into the business field," Wilson said. "I don't know what I want to major in yet."
Wilson said he talks most frequently with quarterback commitment John Franklin (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation) among the other commitments. He said he'd like to get to know a few more of the guys while they are all on campus.
