As odd as it sounds, Davin Bellamy (Chamblee, Ga./Chamblee) will be taking in his first Florida State football game on Saturday.
The 6-foot-5, 235-pound defensive end, one of the most familiar commitments in the Seminoles class, has been to Athens, Ga., on two occasions. This time, though, he will be able to get a small glimpse of his future when Florida State hosts Florida in a top-10 matchup.
"I've only been to two UGA games so this will be my third college game," he said. "I'm looking forward to getting those chills during the game where I say to myself, 'I can't wait to play here.' "
The nation's No. 299 player expects a defensive showdown. And there is no reason not to given last year's matchup and the natural intensity of the rivalry.
In the end, Bellamy thinks a moment of brilliance could end up being the difference. Presumably from senior quarterback EJ Manuel.
"Florida State is going to win," said Bellamy. "I think both teams have equally good defenses, but if we stop the big plays, then UF will have a hard time moving the ball. It'll come down to the QB play. I'll be rooting for Florida State."
Bellamy committed to Florida State on Aug. 11 over Vanderbilt. ESPN ranks him as a four-star prospect.
