D.J. Gillins (Jacksonville, Fla./Eagle's View Academy), for now, looks to be eyeing a winter decision.
The 6-foot-3, 185-pound 2014 quarterback prefers to wait until after his junior season is completed so he doesn't feel too rushed.
"If I made a decision about Florida State, it would be around December after our football season because I don't want to commit too early."
Gillins had high expectations of his trip to Tallahassee coming in. So far, it seems the Seminoles have done a good job of meeting them during the Jimbo Fisher Camp.
"This is my first time being here," explained Gillins. "I kind of figured that it would be so great, but seeing it in person is different."
Florida State's coaching staff already has spent as much time as is allowed with the talented junior-to-be prospect.
Coach Lawrence Dawsey, in particular, has made a significant impact on Gillins with a direct approach.
"I have been talking to them the whole time," Gillins said of the FSU coaches.
"[Dawsey] is cool. He is straightforward. He isn't going to feed you stuff. I like that."
Gillins said he has offers Vanderbilt, Texas Tech, North Carolina, UMass, FIU and Troy at this point. He does not expect to take any more visits this summer.
