Well, that was a pretty strong opening statement for Florida State. As far as helmet stickers go, one of them seems pretty obvious …
QB Jameis Winston: All that hype for the quarterback who had yet to take a snap? Yeah, turns out, it was warranted. Winston exceeded even the highest expectations in his debut, completing 25 of 27 passes (with one of the incompletions a near miss to Kenny Shaw along the sideline) for 356 yards and four TDs and rushing for a fifth score. It was a nearly flawless performance that promises to ratchet up the expectations even higher than they'd already been. Is Winston a darkhorse Heisman candidate? The question seemed somewhat ridiculous before, but now it's the "darkhorse" designation that might be excessive.
TE Nick O'Leary: Asked about O'Leary's gruesome-looking motorcycle accident last month, Winston replied, "I'm glad he didn't scrape his hands." After Monday's game, it's clear why. O'Leary was on the receiving end of three of Winston's four touchdown grabs, matching his total from all of last season.
CB Lamarcus Joyner: The move to corner didn't seem to bother Joyner much. He looked right at home at his new position, and he certainly enjoyed wreaking havoc in Jeremy Pruitt's new defensive scheme. Joyner tallied a team-high nine tackles and recorded two of the three sacks FSU had on the night.
