Now through most of the regular season, Florida State's commitments are hitting the home stretch with one eye on the playoffs and the other trained on finishing out district play. Here are five top performers from this week, regardless of class.
Levonte Whitfield (Orlando, Fla./Jones): A fixture this season in the commitment performance watch, Whitfield again put up some big numbers this week. Showing off his superior speed, he took two kickoff returns back for touchdowns. Offensively, he racked up 120 yards receiving on five catches. He finished the night with four total touchdowns.
Ro'derrick Hoskins (Orlando, Fla./Evans): Hoskins led the way for the Evans' defense from his linebacker spot to make eight stops this week. He also showed proper positioning by being in the right place at the right time to return a fumble 15 yards for a defensive score. Like Whitfield, Hoskins has frequented the performance watch.
Isaiah Jones (Milton, Fla./Milton): Florida State's big, physical receiver commitment provided a ton of offense for Milton this week, both on the ground and through the passing game. Jones hauled in six receptions for about 125 yards in the passing game. And, if that wasn't enough, contributed a 45-yard rushing score to round off his night. Perhaps, then, Jones has begun to show he's not just a big possession receiver, but also has more athleticism at his disposal than perceived at first glance.
Deandre Johnson (Jacksonville, Fla./First Coast): Florida State's 2015 quarterback commitment continues to lead his First Coast team in a playoff direction. Johnson threw for 185 yards and two touchdowns, but also showed his dual-threat ability by running for a touchdown, too. Having fallen short in the state championship game in 2011, Johnson is focused on getting his team back to the Citrus Bowl this year.
Jesus Wilson (Miami/Christopher Columbus): Wilson continues to prove his value on both sides of the ball. While playing solid defense, which he might end up playing in college, Wilson also hauled in six receptions for around 50 yards. Wilson committed to Florida State on June 15 and is a three-star prospect.
