Denzel Ware (Crestview, Fla./Crestview), a 2014 Florida State commitment, made his way to Gainesville this weekend to see Florida host South Carolina.
The 6-foot-2, 215-pound defensive end really liked what he saw out of the Gators and their emphatic win. And even went as far as to say he saw some things out of the program he hadn't seen yet out of the Seminoles.
"I don't know about options, but they showed me a lot of stuff that Florida State hasn't shown me. It was real great. I liked the campus. I got a chance to actually be around their team. They seem like a pretty good team to be around."
Speaking to the coaching staff and hanging out with the current group of players were probably the highlight of the trip for Ware. The mentality of the coaches, on the defensive side of the ball in particular, is a big draw for Ware.
"I don't think it changed anything as far as me coming there," Ware said. "I talked to Will Muschamp and the defensive coordinator. As I was talking to them, they love pass rushers. What really helps them recruit me is the mentality that they have on the defensive line. It is exciting."
Though the Gators made an impression, Ware says he's still firmly committed to the Seminoles. If he had to sign to a school soon, he'd be Tallahassee bound.
But then again, there's a long way until February 2014.
"I am still committed to Florida State," he said. "Like I tell everybody else, just because I like one school, it doesn't mean I am going to change my mind about another school. I have my options open. But I want to let everyone know that Florida State was first in the door if it came to me signing anytime soon."
Ware will not take any visits next weekend, he said, because of ACT testing.
