Right-handed sophomore Alex Carpenter (Satellite Beach, Fla./Melbourne Central Catholic) put the finishing touches on a huge baseball recruiting weekend for the Seminoles by pledging to Florida State.
The hard-throwing prospect knew all along that's where he wanted to end up, and got his chance to cement it.
"It has always been my dream school," he said. "I grew up loving FSU and everything and it was just the right decision for me to end up there.
One of the biggest reasons for choosing FSU over Miami, Mississippi, UCF and Virginia, Carpenter said, was his perception of how the Seminoles staff develops players -- a common theme among recent commits.
"I really liked the coaches," he detailed. "I really liked them, I enjoyed them a lot. I think they are some of the best in the country.
Carpenter also said the campus was a significant factor for him.
"I really liked the facilities there, they are really nice. I like how everything is set up."
He takes a pretty straightforward approach on the hill. Because Carpenter has good stuff, there is no need to nibble on the corners. Instead, he goes out and puts hitters on their back foot as soon as he can.
"I am more of a power pitcher, not really crafty," he said. "I throw hard for my age. I am basically a power righty."
The 2015 standout is interested in studying exercise science once on campus.
