2-way standout Ramirez commits to FSU

For Ronnie Ramirez (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit), not having an idea of where he'd like to go to school was never a problem.

The 5-foot-10, 165-pound two-way standout grew up with ties to Florida State University. And now, he's committed to play there.

"Both of my parents went to Florida State," he said. "I grew up watching Florida State. I always wanted to play there, it was always kind of a dream of mine. It kind of just led me to that."

A 2015 camper on the Seminoles' campus this summer, Ramirez was able to impress the coaches. He would walk out with an eventual offer -- one he would accept.

"I went to their camp and I showed myself to them," he said. "That's kind of what got their attention.

"I was always hustling and trying to do my best. I was pitching as hard as I can and I just was trying to show them what I was made of."

Ramirez excels both at pitching and hitting, and for now, he plans on doing both in Tallahassee. As a right-handed pitcher he's hit 86 mph. Playing as a midfielder, he's' shown the ability to field and hit.

Once Ramirez joins Mike Martin's program, he'll do whatever is required of him.

"I am going in thinking I am going to be playing both ways," he said. "I am going to work for it, but whatever they are going to tell me to do, that will be fine with me."
