JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- ESPN 150 linebacker Dillon Bates (Ponte Vedra, Fla./Ponte Vedra) is no stranger to the game of football. His well-known father, Bill Bates, starred at Tennessee and had a 15-year NFL career with the Dallas Cowboys. His older brothers Graham and Hunter played college football at Arkansas State and Northwestern, respectively. But Dillon, a 6-foot-3, 215-pound outside linebacker, is working on making his own name.

Bates holds over 20 offers and has narrowed down his choices to a top five of Tennessee, Alabama, Florida, Texas and South Carolina, but recently added an offer from Florida State. The four-star Under Armour All-American, who will announce his decision at The Opening in July, admitted he was excited to learn of the Seminoles offer.

"It's really intriguing and humbling to know that all the schools in Florida have offered me," Bates said. "Just the feeling that I can go anywhere in Florida and everything. Just the prestigious school like FSU and all the great players that have come from FSU -- it's just really great to know that I could be among them."

ASHBURN, Va. -- At an event that featured three of the top 11 defensive prospects in the ESPN 150, third-rated offensive tackle Damian Prince of Forestville (Md.) Bishop McNamara impressed every bit as much as any of them Sunday at the Nike Football Training Camp outside of Washington, D.C.

Prince showed off a slimmed down frame -- he’s lost more than 30 pounds, he said, to reach about 285 -- and dominated in blocking drills against a stout group of defensive linemen.

Prince, No. 33 in the ESPN 150, put himself in position to rise over the upcoming months.

BUFORD, Ga. -- ESPN Watch List defensive tackle Elisha Shaw (Tucker, Ga./Tucker) attended the Atlanta NFTC on Saturday but could not compete due to leg injury. Instead, he watched the defensive lineman compete against the offensive linemen and yelled out instructions and criticisms to the delight -- and sometimes embarrassment -- of the other attendees.

Shaw might have been sidelined for the camp, but his recruitment is progressing full-speed. The 6-foot-6, 300-pound junior has double-digit offers, with Alabama and Georgia tied atop his list. Recently a new name has made a strong push.

The RN Top 10 will appear throughout the camp and combine season and rank prospects based strictly on their on-field performance at that particular event. It does not reflect what their overall prospect ranking will be when the 2014 rankings are unveiled this spring.

BUFORD, Ga. – With 276 players taking part in the Atlanta Nike Football Training Camp on Saturday, there were dozens of prospects in the 2014, 2015 and 2016 classes who had already been offered by FBS programs. Six of the participants were awarded invitations to the The Opening later the summer.

10. Terronne Prescod
Lithonia (Ga.) Columbia |OG|6-foot-4, 320 pounds

The offensive linemen at the Atlanta NFTC were not an overly impressive group, but Prescod stood out, not just because of his hairstyle. He locked up and drove back multiple defensive tackles and showed an impressive base.

Prescod is approaching 10 offers, and has scholarship opportunities with Missouri, Ole Miss and Virginia. At the moment, Prescod says Missouri is standing out. Watch out for Auburn if they offer, as they seem to be the school he feels most at home with right now.

Craig Haubert’s take: “Prescod did a nice job in the offensive line group that was not among the strongest at the NFTC this year. He showed good bend and strong punch and he has outstanding size, both in height and bulk.”

Dominique Brown (Ocala, Fla./ Trinity Catholic) emerged over the summer circuit as a potentially big-time prospect.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback camped well just about everywhere he went, including Florida and Florida State.

But his momentum slowed a little during the fall, and only FIU and South Carolina offered. Monday might have got the ball rolling again when Middle Tennessee made it three.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- After recording 64 tackles, four sacks, three fumble recoveries and one fumble return for a touchdown, sophomore defensive lineman Albert Huggins (Orangeburg, S.C./Orangeburg-Wilkinson) was given his first offer by South Carolina last November. The moment helped the promising 6-foot-2, 279-pound prospect realize his future was potentially bright.

“To get my first offer, with me only being in 10^th grade, made me feel like I was doing something special with the effort I was putting in,” Huggins said.

When offer No. 31 came in for Washington (Pa.) running back Shai McKenzie last week, he figured it was time to start cutting his list. It sounds simple, but McKenzie had a harder time when it came to putting pen to paper.

ATHENS, Ga. -- For most high school players, the end of practice means they get a break from the incessant nagging and ceaseless instruction of their coaches. They go home, eat dinner, study and enjoy the respite until the whistles start blowing next time. For ESPN Watch List safety Quincy Wilson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./University School), that is not the case.

Wilson’s father is the defensive coordinator and the defensive backs coach at the University School, so Wilson jokes that he gets no respite.

“Oh no, there’s no break, there’s no break,” Wilson said. “Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yeah, I get it at practice, before practice, after practice, in the car, at the dinner table ...”

The talented junior laughed about the nonstop instruction but he also credited his father with making him the player he is today -- one of the most coveted safeties in Florida.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- ESPN Watch List tight end Milan Richard (Savannah, Ga./Calvary Baptist Day) had an impressive showing at the Orlando NFTC Saturday, measuring in at 6-foot-3, 229 pounds, running a 4.75 40-yard dash, recording a 33-inch vertical jump and making several nice catches throughout the camp.
