ATHENS, Ga. -- For most high school players, the end of practice means they get a break from the incessant nagging and ceaseless instruction of their coaches. They go home, eat dinner, study and enjoy the respite until the whistles start blowing next time. For ESPN Watch List safety Quincy Wilson (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./University School), that is not the case.

Wilson’s father is the defensive coordinator and the defensive backs coach at the University School, so Wilson jokes that he gets no respite.

“Oh no, there’s no break, there’s no break,” Wilson said. “Monday through Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yeah, I get it at practice, before practice, after practice, in the car, at the dinner table ...”

The talented junior laughed about the nonstop instruction but he also credited his father with making him the player he is today -- one of the most coveted safeties in Florida.

ATHENS, Ga. -- Outside linebacker Jacob Pugh (Tallahassee, Fla./Godby) isn’t exactly sure of how many offers he has. The 6-foot-3, 220-pound junior has not counted them. Once he had received over 30 offers to the top programs in the nation, there really seemed no point in doing so. Pugh is more concerned about the five that he has on top.

It doesn't always take a lot of communication to precede an offer in today's college football recruiting world. Such was the case on Wednesday with Mike Johnson (Clearwater, Fla./Countryside).

Florida State doesn't typically leave the Southeast for a running back. But Mikel Horton (West Chester, Ohio/Lakota West) is an apparent exception.

A power back at 6-foot-2, 228 pounds, Horton would give Florida State a different dimension in the backfield.

ESPN Watch List prospect Kevin Mouhon (Norcross, Ga./Norcross) has seen his recruitment take off since helping his team win the Georgia Class AAAAAA state championship in December. Following a standout performance in the Rising Seniors Junior Bowl, the 6-foot-1, 215 pound linebacker has picked up 10 offers to go along with the five he already held. The second program to offer got Mouhon on campus for a junior day two weeks ago.

As teams continue to sort out their classes right before signing day, it isn't unusual to see runs made on individual prospects that hadn't previously received many offers.

Wilson Bell (Prichard, Ala./M.T. Blount), a UCF commitment, had his fair share. But in the span of a week, he picked up three from BCS conference schools.

New York is a basketball city, but in the small borough of Staten Island, football is on the rise. In the 2013 class, that is due in large part to a handful of talented prospects, including dynamic receiver Malique Belfort (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville).

Through eight games, Belfort has 45 catches for 830 yards and nine touchdowns while rarely playing all four quarters. Major BCS programs have taken notice, and he holds offers from 14 schools with Arizona State, Michigan State and Penn State among them.

A handful of programs continue to show interest, including Florida State, which recently offered his teammate Augustus Edwards, a running back committed to Syracuse.

Kobe McCrary (Chipley, Fla./Chipley) has been a mainstay on the sidelines at Doak Campbell Stadium before kickoffs this season.

The 5-foot-11, 208-pound junior tailback has a reason for that, though. He says Florida State is where he wants to go, so he might as well spend as much time as he can there.

"That is the school I am trying to go to," McCrary said. "I know a couple of guys on the team and I went to camp there. Every time I go there, it is exciting no matter who they play. Savannah State, Clemson, anybody."

Five WRs to watch in 2014

Florida Sate has three verbal commitments at the wide receiver position for 2014. The challenge, though, will be to hold on to all of them while adding one or two more top talents. NoleNation takes a look at the candidates who are already on the radar:

Jake McCrary (Miami/Coral Park) -- After he made a tremendous impression on the summer camp circuit, it was no surprise that Florida State accepted McCrary's commitment in July. A smooth target who makes his way in and out of cuts, the ESPN Watch List member is coveted by the biggest programs in the country. More offers have come in recently for McCrary, but the 6-foot wide receiver says he is solid to the Seminoles at the moment. He's close friends with fellow 2014 receiver commitment C.J. Worton, which doesn't hurt FSU's chances to retain him.

C.J. Worton (Homestead, Fla./South Dade) -- Like McCrary before him, Worton impressed Florida State's coaches enough at the second session of the Jimbo Fisher Camp that he earned an offer. Within about two weeks, he accepted it and committed to the Seminoles. A versatile player at 6-0 and 160 pounds, Worton can play both receiver or cornerback at the next level, but that likely won't be decided for a while. He is a strong verbal commitment to Florida State.

It seems just a matter of time until Luke Ward receives that first scholarship offer.

The quarterback from Decaturville (Tenn.) Riverside has received strong interest from several top schools, namely Duke, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Cinncinnati, Alabama and Florida State.

"Good football program. Good relationship with the coaches," the ESPN Watch List prospect stated via text message when asked what he's looking for in a school.

The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Ward might have a decision to make concerning his athletic future. He's also a standout baseball player.
