FSU Seminoles: Washington Huskies

Kendall Baker (Atlanta/Marist) made the ESPN Watch List as a defensive lineman, but he is equally talented on the offensive line. He says that blocking comes naturally to him and will play whichever side of the ball will allow him to see the field early in college.

With that in mind, Baker took in Florida State over the weekend to see what the Seminoles had to offer.

Na'Ty Rodgers had the feeling he had been waiting for. He knew it was time for him to commit.

The four-star offensive tackle did so after his official visit to South Carolina, choosing the Gamecocks over a host of other schools. He also took official visits to Maryland, Washington and Oklahoma.

"I thought it was time," the 6-foot-4, 285-pound prospect from Pomfret (Md.) McDonough said. "I had the feeling that it was time to do it."

Following a summertime commitment to USC, ESPN 150 cornerback Jalen Ramsey (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) believed his recruitment would slow down considerably.

That certainly hasn’t been the case.

Ramsey, the No. 4-ranked corner, officially visited Florida State over the weekend, a trip that was planned following the hire of new defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt from Alabama. The top-ranked prospect in Tennessee previously visited Florida (Sept. 21), Mississippi State (Nov. 30) and Washington (Dec. 7), and has his fifth and final trip scheduled to USC for this upcoming weekend.

SAN ANTONIO -- Wednesday was a day off for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl teams. Instead of working out and participating in drills, the players took in visits around the city -- including a stop at the Alamodome for photo opportunities and to see their game apparel -- and used the day to recover from two days of practice.

The teams will return to the fields on Thursday in arguably the most important practice of the week. Here are five things to keep an eye on for Thursday’s practice:

SAN ANTONIO -- ESPN 150 cornerback Jalen Ramsey (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) has been committed to USC since July 16, but a lot has changed with the Trojans since then.

Chief among them, at least as it pertains to Ramsey, is the now vacant defensive coordinator position once held by Monte Kiffin. That has caused Ramsey to consider other options.

“One big holdback is that I don’t know who the defensive coordinator is,” he said. “I really need to know that because that is who I will be playing for. I know they will have them by my official visit and I will be able to talk to him multiple times. That’s huge, I’m not going to lie.”

SAN ANTONIO – ESPN 150 wide receiver James Quick (Louisville, Ky./Trinity) has drawn plenty of attention for his play through two practices for the East team in preparation for the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

He’ll garner even more eyes his way on Saturday when he announces his commitment during the game.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder said he is down to Louisville, Ohio State and Oregon. Though his decision will come Saturday, it could be finalized by Wednesday morning, as he sits down to discuss his options with his parents, who are in town for the event.

ATLANTA -- Kendall Baker (Atlanta/Marist School) is playing on the defensive line this week at the Georgia Junior Bowl, but he took one rep at offensive tackle during Saturday’s practice. All he did was prevent ESPN Watch List pass rusher Bryson Allen-Williams from getting to the quarterback. Is there a future there?

“Offense comes like natural to me,” Baker said. “I really didn’t play it at my school because I hurt myself this year, so I went back on the defensive side of the ball, but it’s fine. I really don’t mind playing offense at all.”

Baker has offers from Florida State, Georgia Tech, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Washington, and he says most of the schools like him on offense. The hometown Yellow Jackets offered just a couple of days ago.

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- With four officials already done, Priest Willis (Tempe, Ariz./Marcos De Niza) is trying to figure out his fifth and final trip in the next couple of weeks.

Three schools, all from the Pac-12 Conference, are in the mix.

"I have one more left, but I still have to decide which one I am going to take," he said today while at Under Armour All-America Game registration at Disney's Yacht Club Resort. "It is going to be either ASU, UCLA or Washington."
