GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators signed five wide receivers in their 2013 recruiting class, four of whom were rated four-star players. Florida, however, has no proven playmakers at the position and will once again try to sign some top pass-catchers for its 2014 class.
Florida parted ways with its lone 2014 wide receiver commit, Ryshene Bronson, because of some off-the-field concerns. Here's a closer look at some of the top wideouts the Gators are targeting.

This week's targets: Along with a few in-state targets, the Gators have visited or will visit several out-of-state targets this week. Florida coaches headed to Illinois on Monday to check in on inside linebackers Clifton Garrett and Nyles Morgan, then headed to New York to check out athlete Curtis Samuel.
The coaching staff then headed up the East Coast and stopped in on Maryland defensive tackle Damian Prince, Washington D.C. cornerback Jalen Tabor, Virginia defensive end Da'Shawn Hand and North Carolina defensive end Lorenzo Featherston. Georgia insider linebacker Raekwon McMillian will also get a visit from Florida coaches. GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Gators picked up three commitments, Ahmad Fulwood, Tre Bell and Josh Outlaw, in last year's spring game. Two of the three, Outlaw and Bell, eventually signed elsewhere, but it catapulted the Gators in to the top of the recruiting rankings and paved the way for a very successful class.
This year, many big-time prospects are expected to be in attendance and Florida fans can only hope it brings similar success.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida lost its first recruit from the Class of 2014 on Saturday when defensive tackle Travonte Valentine announced via Facebook that he was decommiting.
The 6-foot-4, 295-pound Valentine (Palm Bay, Fla./Bayside) said on Facebook that he needs to "take a step back and [weigh] out my options."
The Watch List prospect later confirmed he had decommitted.
Valentine had previously been committed to Louisville before he told UF coach Will Muschamp last July 29 that he was giving his pledge to Florida.
The Gators have six players committed: Watch List QB Will Grier (Davidson, N.C./Davidson Day), Watch List WR Ryeshene Bronson (Fort Myers, Fla./Dunbar), Watch List S Duke Dawson (Cross City, Fla./Dixie County), OT Benjamin Knox (DeLand, Fla./DeLand), Watch List OG Travaris Dorsey (Jacksonville, Fla./Raines) and Watch List linebacker Christian Miller (Columbia, S.C./Spring Valley).

FLAGTR239: Of all the commits, from what you've seen, who do you feel will make an impact next season?
A: With the No. 1-ranked class in the country right now, there are several Florida commitments who I feel will have some sort of impact. Kelvin Taylor will have an impact on the offense. Running back Matt Jones displayed what he's capable of in the win over Florida State, but he'll only be a sophomore. Taylor, who's enrolling in January, will have a chance to learn the offense in the spring and compete for playing time early on. I still believe Jones will start, but Taylor should see plenty of carries. Defensively, Vernon Hargreaves III will be an All-American by the time he leaves Florida. He's an intelligent and physically gifted defensive back. Hargreaves has excelled at every event -- whether 7-on-7s or actual games -- I've seen him play in. Florida has depth at corner, but Hargreaves is just too talented to keep off the field early on.

Scot5013: How seriously is top RB [Alex] Collins considering UF?
A: Very seriously. He had a great visit to Florida over the weekend and the Gators are at or near the top of his list. He still has an official visit to Miami to keep an eye on. Florida is also very tight on scholarships, so to me the question is will Florida have enough room to take three running backs? They would hate to miss out on one of the top running backs in the country, but they still need to add a defensive end, a receiver and possibly a corner. A lot will depend on if there is any more attrition.

Fort Myers (Fla.) Dunbar’s 35-0 victory over Sarasota (Fla.) Booker on Friday night clinched a district title for Dunbar and put the Tigers in a position to compete for a state championship.
Despite the lopsided nature of the score both teams had players that will definitely need to be observed in the next few weeks, months and years.

Class of 2014 wide receiver Ryeshene Bronson (Fort Myers, Fla./Dunbar) didn’t record much in the way of statistics in Friday’s 35-0 victory over Sarasota (Fla.) Booker, but the 6-foot-3, 185-pound junior was excited with his contributions that helped Dunbar gain over 300 yards on the ground.
"I had just one catch but that’s all right because I knew they would need me to block downfield and help the running game," Bronson said. "It worked out because we won big."
Bronson expects to see more action in the playoffs, hopefully in the first-round matchup against Orlando (Fla.) Jones, but he’ll take the win nonetheless.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators are currently holding down the No. 3-ranked recruiting class in the country for the 2013 class and have just a handful of spots remaining. Myers, Fla./Dunbar), and are heavily involved with several other top in-state prospects.
In addition to Bronson, the Gators are hoping to add a few more wide receivers from this list, and there are several good ones to chose from. Artavis Scott (Tarpon Springs, Fla./East Lake) and Johnnie Dixon (Palm Beach, Fla./Dwyer) are two of the top prospects on Florida's wide receiver board, but Corey Holmes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas), FSU commit Jake McCary (Miami/Coral Reef) and Trevion Thompson (Durham, N.C./Hillside) are also in the mix.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Gators will be bringing in a handful of prospects to watch Florida take on Bowling Green in The Swamp on Saturday afternoon. Georgia offensive tackle commit Trenton Brown (Albany, Ga./Georgia Military College) will be the only official visitor for the Gators.
For Florida, the visit by Brown is very important. The Gators are looking to add two more offensive linemen in this class, and Brown appears to be wavering on his Georgia commitment.
"I am committed to Georgia, but not as solid as I was," Brown said on Tuesday night. "I have been hearing that they are telling Laremy Tunsil that they are going to put me at guard and him at tackle. I asked coach [Will] Friend about it, and he said they put the best five on the field. That led me to believe that they are saying that, but I am going to talk to coach [Mark] Richt about it because I am not trying to play guard.
