GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- It’s time to dip into the GatorNation recruiting mailbag and answer your questions. Because of the amount of questions we’ve received, we won’t be able to get to all of them today -- but we encourage you to post your questions on our Insider fan forum, The Chompions Club.

driverag17: Signing day is coming, and obviously we are all really excited to see how everything turns out. However we all know sometimes the recruits wait longer to sign their LOI. Do you see any of our targets going past signing day on their decisions?

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- I was unable to get to all the questions on Wednesday’s weekly chat, but since there were so many -- and the angst from Florida’s Allstate Sugar Bowl loss to Louisville was still fresh -- we decided to answer them today.

Dave (New Jersey): Mike you say we are done with our class at 26? Don't we have 8 EEs that can date back to next year giving us another 6-7 spots open in this class? We lost a lot of bodies so the staff must get at least 31 in this class IMO. Thoughts?

The Gators will try and sign several more players, but Muschamp has gone on record before saying he’s not going to sign players just to fill out a class. I anticipate only two to three more commitments, if that. UF is still after DT Jarran Reed, Jay-nard Bostwick, Montravius Adams, Elijah Daniel, Jason Hatcher, Chris Jones, James Clark, Alex Collins, Jalen Ramsey, Kennard Swanson and Quinton Powell. If Muschamp can get some of those guys, fine, but if not, he won’t just sign guys so he can fill out the class.

RemmyR (Maple Shade, N.J.): Just want to say thanks to you for dropping UF science on us every week!!!

You’re welcome. I enjoy interacting with fans. You guys are the lifeblood of what I do so these chats are the least I can do.

Scot5013: How seriously is top RB [Alex] Collins considering UF?

A: Very seriously. He had a great visit to Florida over the weekend and the Gators are at or near the top of his list. He still has an official visit to Miami to keep an eye on. Florida is also very tight on scholarships, so to me the question is will Florida have enough room to take three running backs? They would hate to miss out on one of the top running backs in the country, but they still need to add a defensive end, a receiver and possibly a corner. A lot will depend on if there is any more attrition.

What to watch this weekend

December, 13, 2012

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- This will be a big weekend for Florida recruiting. Not just because Florida is bringing in some key recruits for official visits, but also because the Gators have a few current commits and key targets who are playing for state championships in Orlando.

Tom Hauck for ESPN.comThe Gators were able to flip Clemson WR commit Demarcus Robinson before his official visit to Gainesville this weekend.
New wide receiver commit Demarcus Robinson (Fort Valley, Ga./Peach Co.), a four-star prospect, will take his official visit to Florida this weekend. Robinson flipped his commitment from Clemson to Florida on Wednesday, the same day Gators head coach Will Muschamp and assistants Brian White and Joker Phillips made an in-home visit.

With Robinson now in the fold, the headliner of the weekend might be Alex Collins (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation), a former Miami commitment who is officially visiting. The Gators have two four-star running back commitments in Kelvin Taylor (Belle Glades, Fla./Glades Day) and Adam Lane (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven), but Collins is too talented not to recruit.

Focusing on five: Offense

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators landed two offensive linemen -- Trenton Brown (Albany, Ga./Georgia Military College) and Rod Johnson (Delray Beach, Fla./Delray Beach) -- along with linebacker Matt Rolin (Ashburn, Va./Briar Woods) on Sunday, leaving Florida with just a few remaining spots left in their 2013 recruiting class. With less than two months until national signing day, here is a look at five offensive targets that Florida continues to focus on.

Laquon Treadwell
Courtesy of Zach Perry/intersportGators fans would love to see the nation's No. 1 wide receiver, LaQuon Treadwell, donning a Florida jersey next fall.
WR Laquon Treadwell (Crete, Ill./Crete-Monee) -- Florida currently has four wide receiver commits from Ahmad Fulwood (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny), Alvin Bailey (Seffner, Fla./Armwood), Marqui Hawkins (Columbus, Ga./Carver) and Chris Thompson (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville). All four are solid players, but Treadwell is a difference maker. Florida has been lacking a true No. 1 receiver and Treadwell has the capability to be that type of player. He said recently he will take an official visit to Florida.

RB Alex Collins (Plantation, Fla./South Plantation) -- Collins, a former Miami commitment, will officially visit Florida this weekend. The Gators have two four-star running back commitments in Kelvin Taylor (Belle Glades, Fla./Glades Day) and Adam Lane (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven), but Collins is too talented not to recruit. The ESPN 150 back is also considering Florida State.

Three-star defensive tackle and fullback Kennard Swanson (Lakeland, Fla./Lake Gibson) was offered by Florida on Monday, according to Lake Gibson assistant coach Robert Whitaker.

The 6-foot, 242-pound senior is committed to LSU and is being recruited as a fullback by both SEC programs. At a defensive lineman, Swanson has 16 sacks this season.

The Gators also offered Swanson’s junior teammate Kendall Gant. It’s the first offer for the 6-2, 180-pound Gant, a safety.

Whitaker said Gant will likely be in attendance at next Saturday’s Florida-Florida State game.
