GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Most of Florida’s receivers are worried about hot reads, which is how they’re supposed to change their routes when a defense blitzes.

Frankie Hammond worries about the hot light.

Joe Robbins/Getty ImagesSenior wide receiver Frankie Hammond has what can only be called a healthy obsession with doughnuts.
Specifically, when it’s going to come on at the Krispy Kreme near UF’s campus. And when the "hot now" light does fire up -- Hammond is alerted by an app on his phone -- he heads over to the shop adjacent to UF’s campus on Northwest 13th Street.

"If I’m in the middle of something I probably won’t go, but most of the time I try to go," Hammond said. "I just try to go whenever I can.

"As you can see, it’s not having too much of an effect on me."

Hammond was alluding to his weight, which is 189 pounds, and to the fact that he hasn’t got an ounce of extra fat on him. The only way the doughnuts add pounds is if he stands on a scale while holding a box.

Hammond’s teammates are aware of his Krispy Kreme obsession -- and so is anyone else who follows Hammond on Twitter (@Highjumper85) because he fires off a tweet when the hot light comes on -- and they’re amused.

"I’ve never met anybody that obsessed with doughnuts," offensive lineman Jon Halapio said. "I know Trey [Burton] had that doughnut-maker thing his freshman year, but I’ve never seen anybody that obsessed. Every time I see him he’s got a Krispy Kreme doughnut in his hand."
