Gators surprise with three-star receiver
By Derek Tyson
Florida fans got a surprise on Wednesday when three-star wide receiver Raphael Andrades (Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln) signed a letter of intent with the Gators.
“God chose them for me!" Andrades said via text message. "He put me where I needed to be. Orange and Blue was in my blood.”
Andrades offensive coordinator, Jacquez Green, a former All-American wide receiver at Florida, said this wasn't a last-minute move by Florida.
"It had been in the works for a while," Green said. "He's been down there a lot and seen what Florida had to offer. He wanted to go to Florida badly, though. He even thought about walking on even though he had offers from Arkansas, Notre Dame, Standford and Vanderbilt."
Green said Andrades (6-foot, 194 pounds) had 41 receptions for over 800 yards and a school-record 13 receiving touchdowns.
Green said this was a good signing for the Gators.
"I think he has great hands, great body and just a great route runner," Green said. "He's a very smart football player."
Andrades joins early enrollee Latroy Pittman, Florida's other wide receiver to send his letter of intent.
