5-star DB Jackson enjoys FNL
By Derek Tyson
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The nation's No. 5-ranked player, Adoree' Jackson (Gardena, Calif./Junipero Serra), did not work out at Florida's Friday Night Lights camp, but the five-star athlete received more attention than any other player in attendance.
The 5-foot-10, 182-pound prospect, who will be staying in Gainesville until Sunday, said that he enjoyed his first visit to The Swamp.
"Overall the atmosphere was great, so I enjoyed it,” Jackson said. “It was crazy -- it was insane. First one-on-one snap, you heard the ‘oohs' and ‘aahs.' The crowd was into it."
ESPN 300 athlete Adoree' Jackson likes Florida's football and track teams and met with both head coaches during his July visit.
The Under Armour All-American had a chance to spend time with incoming Florida freshman and 2013 Under Armour All-America game MVP Vernon Hargreaves III. Jackson said it was nice to get advice from a player that was just in his position.
"Basically he was just telling me to be patient with everything and just enjoy it while I can and choose the school that right's for me,” Jackson said. “He just gave me tips about what it's like and the transition and everything so it was nice to learn from someone that just came out of high school."
On Saturday, Jackson will get a chance to speak with the Florida coaches and there are a few areas in which he admits he wants to know more about -- including the possibilities of playing two sports and playing on offense and defense.
"Basically I want to know about the two-way track thing," he said, "with track and football and the offensive standpoint for me and special teams-wise for me. Other than that just about academics and things like that. I want to know more about [Loucheiz] Purifoy. I know he goes both ways for them, so I want to know more about that. I like that."
The two-sport standout also plans to meet with Florida track coach Mike Holloway before he leaves on Sunday.
Jackson has no timeframe on when he will start to narrow things down.
