ESPN 300 Adams likes Ole Miss 'family'
By Damon Sayles
Family: The one word that many college football recruits use to describe Ole Miss after a visit. ESPN 300 safety Jamal Adams (Lewisville, Texas/Hebron) followed suit.
After an unofficial visit to Oxford, Miss., Adams gave his experience at Ole Miss very high marks. The nation’s No. 3 safety and No. 2 player in Texas has the Rebels in his top six, and his trip to Mississippi proved to be a positive one.
“It was a family as soon as I stepped foot on campus,” Adams said. “They showed my family and I so much love and just kept it real.”
Adams always has had an appreciation for Ole Miss and what head coach Hugh Freeze has done with the program. He has called the Rebels an “up-and-comer” on several occasions, and he had a chance to see first hand what the program is all about. The friendliness of the fan base and the support he received from those within the program was something Adams said he’ll always remember.
Adams took in a campus visit while in Oxford and also hung out with current players and present targets. One of the players he caught up with was 2014 Victor Evans (Dallas/Skyline), who verbally committed to Ole Miss on Saturday.
In short, Adams said the Rebels will be a team he definitely considers as he prepares to make his final decision -- which could come as early as next month.
“The trip was an eye-opener. I didn’t expect it to be like this,” Adams said. “Ole Miss is a big-time school and could be a great fit for me.”
Ole Miss is in Adams' top six, along with Florida, Texas, Texas A&M, Ohio State and Notre Dame.
