Buckeyes leap in race for WR Dixon
By Derek Tyson
BEAVERTON, Ore. -- Four-star wide receiver Johnnie Dixon (Palm Beach, Fla./Dwyer) has always had Miami and Florida near the top of his list of schools, but after a recent visit to Ohio State, the Buckeyes and Canes are now his top two schools.
Dixon cited his experience with the coaches at Ohio State as a reason he enjoyed his visit to Columbus so much.
"I went to Ohio State last week," Dixon said. "It was great. I knew it would be good, but it was really good. Just everything, the facilities, the coaches -- I mean, as soon as we got there we were playing dominoes with the coaches."
In addition to his Ohio State visit, Dixon is planning to visit some other schools over the summer.
"I have a lot of visits coming up this month, though, like Alabama, Tennessee and West Virginia," he said, "and I might be going up to Florida for Friday Night Lights, but I'm not sure yet."
Dixon said his visit to Ohio State vaulted the Buckeyes to the top of his list along with Miami.
"Miami and Ohio State are leading for me," Dixon said. "From Day 1, Miami has showed me the love. They really showed how bad they wanted me from Day 1. Ohio State was coming hard, too, but once I took the visit, I was like, 'wow.' "
The ESPN 300 receiver said Florida has fallen behind the other two. He said he would like to make a decision in the near future.
