Watch List DT Moten talks favorites
By Derek Tyson
FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- St. Thomas Aquinas defensive tackle Anthony Moten has narrowed his list to 10 schools.
The 6-foot-4, 280-pound athlete said he will make his college decision from: Miami, Florida State, Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, USC, Notre Dame, Alabama, Clemson and Tennessee.
Among the top 10, Moten said there are three schools that, in his mind, are sligtly standing out to him.
"UF, Miami and South Carolina are standing out right now," Moten said. "They aren't my leaders, they are just standing out to me at this point."
Moten touched on why the Gators, Canes and Gamecocks have made an impression on him.
Florida: "Coach Muschamp is a real good coach. Their D-line coach is a real good coach, and we talk all the time on the phone. He came from South Carolina, and he knew me from there, and now he's at Florida."
South Carolina: "Coach Brown is a great coach over there. Their D-line is a monster D-line over there. Devin Taylor and Jadeveon Clowney, all them boys, are just doing their thing."
Miami: "It's the hometown team. My family loves them a lot. My mom and dad want me to go there."
For Moten, he said he likely will narrow down his list to five schools by the end of spring but added there is one school from which he would like to hear more.
"Georgia is a school I'd like to offer [me]," Moten said. "My coach talked to them for me. Hopefully they will come with an offer soon. My dad is from Valdosta, Ga., and he liked them a lot growing up. I had family about an hour away from Athens."
Moten said there are a few factors that will play in to his college decision.
"Somewhere where my parents can come watch me play on Saturdays," he said. "Just a school that feels like family and has good academics."
