Harris talks Bama, nearing decision
By Corey Dowlar
Whether he likes it or not, Trent Harris (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park) has become one of the top prospects in Florida.
That'll happen, though, when Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Georgia and Kentucky all offer in the span of two weeks.
Alabama, the latest school to offer the 6-foot-2, 232-pound defensive end, really made an impression.
"Yeah, it's a big one," Harris said. "It just means I am a blessed individual and thankful to have the opportunity to play with some of the best players in the country."
Coming off his unofficial visit to Florida, the Gators seemed to have the inside track for Harris. This new Alabama offer has changed some things, of course, but it hasn't changed the Gators' position on top of his list.
"UF is still on top," he said. "But this offer just made me think about my future a little more and what I need to do to get where I want to be."
Harris isn't really sure what the next step is. He doesn't have any visits planned and isn't sure if he will even visit Tuscaloosa, Ala.
But he says he is close to making a final decision, implying the Gators could add to their 2014 class sooner rather than later.
"I am honestly not too sure," said Harris. "I am pretty close to making a decision, but I'm just not ready yet."
