Yeargin adds in-state offers
By Corey Dowlar
The offers keep filing in for Richard Yeargin III (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons).
Florida, Georgia Tech, Marshall and Tennessee have all come in the last couple of days, and on Wednesday, Florida State added its name to the list for the 6-foot-4, 210-pound linebacker. But that hardly caught him by surprise.
Yeargin, a confident player in his own right, knows he's got to work to make sure these offers become official.
"Yeah, I am expecting any team to because I am a big-time guy," Yeargin said. "My name is going to get out there and teams are going to offer me. Sal [Sunseri] told me today that he wants me to get on the horn tomorrow and talk to Jimbo [Fisher], that doesn't surprise me one bit. It just adds to my collection and makes me want to work harder. It excites me, but an offer is an offer and you still have to grind to keep it."
When Yeargin speaks to Fisher tomorrow, he isn't expecting much out of the ordinary. He's been through these conversations before.
But he does expect, and perhaps is looking forward to, setting up a visit to Tallahassee.
"No, not really," he said. "I know what type of player I am and he will probably tell me the same things that Coach Sal told me today and I am just looking forward to him saying that he wants me to get up there and feel out the atmosphere. Nothing too spectacular, just the norm.
"I might want to check out their junior day or something. Or maybe over the summer, I will go up to their camp."
Florida, another offer he's received in the last week, is one he's excited about, too.
Whether it be for the athletics or the academics, Yeargin is excited about both endeavors.
"I like their academics and everything they can offer me with life after football," he said. They do have a great football tradition and just being in the SEC."
