GatorNation signing day predictions

By Derek Tyson

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Florida Gators, with the No. 1-ranked recruiting class in the country, have already filled a majority of their class. With signing day just a few short days away, the Gators will look to put the final pieces of the puzzle in place.

Florida has 26 verbal commitments, including former Nebraska offensive lineman Tyler Moore. Eight of the 26 are already enrolled in classes and, excluding injured linebacker Matt Rolin, will compete in spring football.

The Gators have room to take as many as 33 players in this class, but based on who they have remaining on their recruiting board, that number seems unlikely.

I think the Gators will sign three or four more players on Wednesday and finish with a class of 29 or 30.

That said, here's a look at who I think will round out the Gators' class.

DT Jarran Reed (Goldsboro, N.C./East Mississippi CC) -- Reed, a former Ole Miss commit, officially visited Florida on Jan. 11 and Alabama on Jan. 25. He also took another unofficial visit to Bama this past weekend. All signs seem to point toward Tuscaloosa, but I've heard from a reliable source the Gators still appear to be in good position to land the talented tackle.  He's also close friends with Florida defensive tackle Damien Jacobs and Florida early enrollee Darious Cummings. All three attended EMCC.

DT Jay-nard Bostwick (Port Saint Lucie, Fla./West Centennial) -- Bostwick has kept quiet about his recruitment. He's down to Florida, Miami and Alabama. Miami could be a factor in the end, but I still believe he will end up signing with the Gators.

WR James Clark (New Smyrna Beach, Fla./New Smyrna Beach) -- The four-star wide receiver took an unofficial visit to Florida this weekend. He's also visited Clemson, Ohio State, Northwestern, Nebraska and Purdue. Ohio State and Clemson appear to be near the top with the Gators, and his recruitment will come down to the wire. Even though the Gators have five wide receiver commits, Clark is a speedy guy that Florida really doesn't have on the roster right now.

On the fence

CB Jalen Ramsey (Brentwood, Tenn./Brentwood Academy) -- The four-star cornerback and USC commitment has been quiet over the last few weeks, but his father, Lamont, said his son was still considering Florida and Florida State along with USC. At this point, I believe it will come down to Florida and FSU for Ramsey. He is very close with Florida DB commit Nick Washington. This one is close, and it could go either way for the No. 14-ranked player in the country.

DE Tashawn Bower (Somerville, N.J./Immaculatta) -- The ESPN 150 defensive end will chose between Auburn -- the school he's committed to -- FSU, LSU and Florida.  He's visited all four schools, including an unofficial visit to Auburn this past weekend. The Gators have a need at defensive end, and Bower is the most likely candidate. At this point, I could make a case for any school in his top four.
