ESPN 150 DE Bower talks UF visit

By Derek Tyson

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- ESPN 150 defensive end commit Tashawn Bower (Somerville, N.J./Immaculata) took an official visit to Florida over the weekend.

The 6-foot-5, 241-pound Auburn commitment came away impressed with what the Gators had to offer.

Tashawn Bower is ranked No. 132 in the ESPN 150. He's also the No. 4 player in the state of New Jersey.
"It went well," Bower said. "I got to see a lot of things I didn't get to see on my unofficial visit two years ago. I got to see a lot of the academics side of if it. I got to sit down and speak with coach [Will] Muschamp after dinner last night and spend some time with him."

Bower, the No. 11-ranked defensive end in the country, said meeting the director of strength and conditioning, Jeff Dillman, was the highlight of his trip.

"There's not much that I didn't already know about Florida's program," Bower said. "I guess the visit just made me feel more comfortable about the weight training staff there. I was really impressed with that. That was probably the highlight of my trip. I just liked the science behind how they do things and they show you how they can help get you to the next level."

Former Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn took a job in the NFL last week and was quickly replaced by linebackers coach D.J. Durkin. Bower said the loss of Quinn wouldn't really change how he feels about the Gators.

"They didn't say much about it," Bower said. "They just said it was Coach Muschamp's defense and nothing would really change. It really doesn't bother me."

Bower is unsure of how strong his commitment to Auburn is after his Florida visit.

"It's hard to say because all these places are similar in a lot of ways," he said. "I'd say it makes this decision a bit harder, but it's something I have to do to make sure Auburn or whevever else is 100 percent where I want to go."

Bower will officially visit LSU next weekend before making his final decision on signing day.
