Third team in the mix for Nkemdiche?
By Kipp Adams
Robert Nkemdiche (Loganville, Ga./Grayson), the No. 1 recruit in the country, could be throwing a curveball as we head into the final weeks before signing day. While Nkemdiche said last week that Ole Miss leads LSU and he was down to those two programs, it appears another school is not giving up its pursuit of the top prospect in the 2013 recruiting cycle.
“I might take an official to Florida this weekend,” Nkemdiche said. “I have to call coach (Dan) Quinn later this week, but right now I do not know.”
The Gators already have the No. 1 recruiting class in the country to date, but adding an elite talent like Nkemdiche could give head coach Will Muschamp and his staff a solid replacement for Shariff Floyd, who declared for the NFL draft following the Sugar Bowl.
LSU is still working to set up an official with Nkemdiche as well, and they are expected to see him soon.
“Brick Haley is supposed to come up this week to see me,” Nkemdiche said.
As for when he will be ready to make his final commitment, the five-star defensive lineman looks set to take it down to the wire.
“I think my commitment will likely come on signing day,” Nkemdiche said.
