Florida weekend recruiting recap
By Derek Tyson
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida only had three official visitors this weekend, but the Gators' coaching staff was plenty busy.
Defensive tackle Jarran Reed (Goldsboro, N.C./East Mississippi Community College), safety Keanu Neal (Bushnell, Fla./South Sumter) and wide receiver Chris Thompson (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville) took official visits over the weekend. Reed was the only prospect not committed to the Gators, but the Ole Miss commit came away saying he could see himself at UF.
In addition to hosting Reed on Sunday, the Florida coaching staff visited several players who are already committed.
Defensive tackle Antonio Riles (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer) received a visit from Young, UF's defensive line coach. Wide receiver Ahmad Fulwood (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) and safety Nick Washington (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian) received in-home visits from offensive coordinator Brent Pease, wide receivers coach Joker Phillips and defensive backs coach Travaris Robinson.
Offensive line commit Cameron Dillard (Canton, Mich./Canton) received his in-home visit from Florida offensive line coach Tim Davis on Sunday night.
One former Florida linebacker commit, Quinton Powell (Daytona Beach, Fla./Mainland), announced on Sunday that he will make his final decision on ESPNU on Feb. 6 and is still considering the Gators.
The Gators, however, have commitments from five linebackers, and it's unclear just how hard they are pursuing the ESPN 150 athlete.
