Ole Miss commit enjoys Florida visit
By Derek Tyson
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida received a visit this weekend from a defensive lineman who is committed to Ole Miss, and by all accounts, it went well.
Jarran Reed (Goldsboro, N.C./East Mississippi Community College) took his first official visit to Florida this weekend. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound tackle had a great visit to Florida, but has three official visits remaining before national signing day.
Reed had a chance to spend time with several Florida coaches while on his visit to Gainesville.
"It was great visit," Reed said. "I had a great time with coach [Will] Muschamp, coach [Bryant] Young and coach [Dan] Quinn. They really showed me a good time and I really had a good time while I was down there in Florida.
"They were telling me that they needed a junior college guy that could come in and fit right in to their scheme. They said they liked the way I played and that I'd fit right in with what they are doing."
Reed was hosted by two of his friends and former EMCC players, Damien Jacobs and new Florida enrollee Darious Cummings.
"It went great," Reed said. "We were all having fun. We all came from the same junior college, too. We all had a lot of fun together."
Though he remains committed to the Rebels, Reed said he could see himself playing at Florida.
"I'm still committed as of now," Reed said. "I go to North Carolina next week, I go to Kentucky the week after that and then Ole Miss after that. Florida has really high standards, and it's a place I could see myself playing at. It's a great place to play and my family liked it too."
So on a scale of 1-10 how would Reed rank his visit to Florida?
"A 1,000," Reed laughed. "Signing day is going to be exciting."
