UF recruiting weekend visitor preview
By Derek Tyson
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The Gators are only bringing in three official visitors this weekend, and two are commits.
The other visitor is Jarran Reed, a 6-foot-4, 305-pound defensive tackle prospect who is verbally committed to play for Ole Miss. The Gators are looking to flip the talented athlete.
Originally from Goldsboro, N.C., Reed attended East Mississippi Community College this past season. He is friends with defensive tackle Darious Cummings, who just enrolled at Florida this past week.
Florida already has defensive tackle commits from Caleb Brantley and Cummings, but the Gators would like to add one more. Reed, Montravius Adams and Jay-nard Bostwick are the most likely candidates.
In addition to his Florida visit, Reed will also visit North Carolina on Jan. 18, Kentucky on Jan. 25 and Ole Miss on Feb. 1.
Joining Reed for official visits will be Florida safety commit Keanu Neal (Bushnell, Fla./South Sumter) and wide receiver commit Chris Thompson (Gainesville, Fla./Gainesville). Neal is the No. 6-ranked safety prospect in the country and he finished as the No. 65-ranked prospect in the country in the final edition of the ESPN 150 that was released on Thursday.
Thompson, who has been committed to Florida since the end July, is a three-star prospect and the No. 95-ranked wide receiver in country.
