4-star DE Ogundeko eliminates Gators

By Derek Tyson

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- Four-star defensive end Ebenezer Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y./Jefferson) will make his college decision Friday at the Under Armour All-America Game. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound athlete will make his choice between Syracuse and Clemson.

Florida had been near the top of Ogundeko's list for some time, but the ESPN 150 member said Florida just wasn't the right fit.

"I just felt that Florida wasn't the best place for me. I wanted to go to a school closer to home and I'll have a better opportunity to play earlier at the other schools.

With Syracuse, Ogundeko said he likes the thought of playing in his home-state.

"Syracuse is a great school," he said. "I like what they have to offer me. I like their players a lot and I like their coaches. I went to their game yesterday. It's a great place. I'm from New York and I like that New York environment."

Syracuse beat West Virginia 38-14 the New Era Pinstripe Bowl at Yankee Stadium on Saturday. Ogundeko said he thinks Syracuse is building a program that will regularly be in bowl games.

"They are just trying to build a new legacy," Ogundeko said. "They are building a team with New York players and get it to the top."

As for Clemson, Ogundeko said he would have a chance to play early for the Tigers.

"They are a great school also," he said. "I like the coaches; I like the school. The players are great, they win a lot. They play in the ACC just like Syracuse. I have a great opportunity to play early at both schools.
