ESPN 150 LBs to commit at all-star games
By Brad Bournival
By Jan. 5, Ohio State will have a much clearer picture of its linebacker situation in the recruiting class of 2013.
The Buckeyes are high on two ESPN 150 linebackers and both plan on announcing their commitments at all-star games just after the new year.
The first of which should come from Trey Johnson (Lawrenceville, Ga./Central Gwinnett) at the Under Armour All-America Game on Jan. 4, according to his coach Todd Wofford. Mike Mitchell (Plano, Texas/Prestonwood Christian) will likely follow suit the next day at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl.
Johnson still has Auburn in the final mix, even though he announced his decommitment from the school earlier. He is also considering Florida, Ohio State, Penn State and Tennessee.
For Mitchell, it will be a choice between Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas A&M.
Johnson is ranked 96th overall and is the second-ranked inside linebacker in the nation. He recorded 139 tackles this season with three sacks and 16 quarterback hurries. He also forced four fumbles and had an interception.
Mitchell is ranked 121st overall and is the 10th-ranked outside linebacker. The SPARQ national champion recorded 186 tackles -- 32 for loss -- 11 sacks, seven forced fumbles and three blocked punts as a senior.
