One of the biggest visitors Florida entertained over the weekend was ESPN 150 offensive lineman Ira Denson (Greenville, Fla./Madison County). The 6-foot-4, 325-pound senior was on hand to watch the Gators overpower LSU, and the Florida State commit admits he had a good time.
“It was a good trip,” Denson said. “The game was pretty exciting and real physical.”
Denson, a 2013 Under Armour All-American, has been committed to Florida State for several months, and despite a good trip Saturday, the offensive guard says his status is unchanged.
“Nah, I’m good with Florida State,” Denson said. “I might go to the game there this weekend. I’m solid with them.”
Denson hung out Saturday with his friend and adversary Caleb Brantley (Crescent City, Fla./Crescent City). The two have had a good-natured rivalry since April’s NFTC event in Orlando, and Denson said Brantley is still trying to get him to flip.
“Yeah, Caleb always talks about me going to Florida, with him but like I said it’s just a visit and I’m good with FSU,” Denson said. “I’m not sure if Florida has even offered me yet.”
Denson said Brantley will return the favor and go to a Florida State game with him, but don’t expect the lineman to try to sell him on being a Seminole.
“Nah, I’m not trying to push Caleb to come to FSU with me because he’s said he doesn’t want to go there,” Denson added. “I respect that.”
Denson will return to Florida for an official visit on Oct. 20 when the Gators host South Carolina.
