GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- ESPNU 150 Watch List defensive end Jaylen Miller (Gaffney, S.C./Gaffney) picked up a big offer earlier this week from the Florida Gators.
The 6-foot-2, 263-pound defensive end, who already holds offers from Duke, North Carolina, Wake Forest and Alabama State, said the Florida offer is special.
"Offers like this is what motivates me to be a better player and a better leader to the people I can influence," Miller said. "Now I'm going to work on my game even more so that I can be the best among the best."
Florida defensive coordinator Dan Quinn who also helps coach the defensive line, personally offered Miller the scholarship.
"I talked to Coach Quinn and he seemed very excited to talk to me, and I was quite excited to talk to him," Miller said. "It's not often that someone from Gaffney, South Carolina gets an offer from the Florida Gators. I was surprised but Coach Quinn seemed like a cool guy and he seemed like someone I could get used to."
Though Miller admitted the offer from Florida was one of his biggest yet, he is in no rush to name a leader.
"I want to visit Florida and see what type of atmosphere it has before I give any opinions about it," he said. "As of now I don't favor any school over another. I feel like I should go visit the schools in person before I narrow it down."
Because of his size, Miller said he is being recruited by some schools to play end or tackle. His preference is at end, and Miller said that's where he see's himself on the next level.
"I've been working on slimming up so I can stay at defensive end," he said. "By the time my senior season starts hopefully there won't be any questions about what position I play."
