GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- After the Florida coaches get some much-needed time off, Florida will host its second junior day this year on Feb. 18. Some of the top prospects, not only in the state but the country, are expected to attend.
A large number of five-star prospects is expected to be in attendance -- OT Laremy Tunsil (Lake City, Fla./Columbia), RB Kelvin Taylor (Belle Glades, Fla./Glades Central), S Leon McQuay III (Seffner, Fla./Armwood), WR Stacy Coley (Oakland Park, Fla./Northeast), WR Jordan Cunningham (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./University School) and DB Nick Washington (Jacksonville, Fla./Trinity Christian).
Other top-ranked prospects slated include S Marcell Harris (Groveland, Fla./South Lake), RB Ryan Green (St. Petersburg, Fla./St. Pete Catholic), DE Jordan Sherit (Tampa, Fla./Hillsborough), LB Quinton Powell (Daytona Beach, Fla./Mainland) and WRs Rodney Adams (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood), Taj Williams (Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln) and teammate Reggie Davis (Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln).
The impressive list is expected to grow as Feb. 18 approaches. The Gators will look to capitalize on an incredibly hot start to the 2013 recruiting cycle. UF has already landed four commitments from the ESPNU 150 Watch List, and all are at positions of need.
Four-star running back Adam Lane (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven) was Florida's first verbal of the 2013 class. Lane's commitment was important because the Gators were only able to secure one running back in the 2012 class. Florida will look to sign two more backs for the 2013 class.
Lane's commitment was followed by five-star defensive tackle Caleb Brantley (Crescent City, Fla./Crescent City), who made his pledge after visiting the Gators for their first junior day on Jan. 28.
Brantley wasn't the only player who committed after attending junior day. Linebackers Daniel McMillian (Jacksonville, Fla./First Coast) and James Hearns (Tallahassee, Fla./Lincoln) committed to the Gators last Thursday after they visited Florida the previous weekend.
