GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- With big home SEC showdowns against LSU and South Carolina this season, the Gators have had a few opportunities to impress recruits. This week's game against Jacksonville State won't have high stakes, but the Gators are expected to bring in some key prospects to the Swamp.
Headlining the group will be two official visitors, ESPN 150 defensive end Ebenezer Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y./Jefferson) and junior college prospect Darious Cummings (Scooba, Miss./EMCC). Ogundeko, an Under Armour All-American, says he is looking forward to seeing how he fits in with Florida.
"I'm really just looking forward to how comfortable I am down there," Ogundeko said, "and how I fit in with Florida's defense."
Cummings, a former Florida State signee, said he wants to get a feel for the town of Gainesville.
"I'm looking forward to interacting with the players and coaches at Florida," Cummings said. "I just want to get a vibe of how Gainesville is when I'm there."
The 6-foot-3, 300-pound Cummings is close friends with Florida defensive tackle Damien Jacobs. Both originally signed with FSU out of high school and both attended East Mississippi Community College.
In addition to Ogundeko and Cummings, Florida is expected to host uncommitted safety prospect Marcell Harris (Orlando, Fla./Dr. Phillips), offensive tackle Trenton Brown (Albany, Ga./Georgia Military) and defensive end Eric Mayes (Sarasota, Fla./Booker). Harris was originally scheduled to make his decision on Friday but has since delayed the decision until the end of November.
Brown, a former Georgia pledge, has had the Gators in the lead for a few months now. With the Gators falling behind for five-star offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil (Lake City, Fla./Columbia), Florida is turning up the heat on Brown.
Florida is also expected to bring in a handful of 2014 recruits including wide receiver Moral Stephens (Perry, Fla./Taylor Co.), linebacker Cecil Cherry (Frostproof, Fla./Frostproof), defensive back Duke Dawson (Cross City, Fla./Dixie County) and 2015 defensive end CeCe Jefferson (Glen St. Mary, Fla./Baker Co.).
