GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- It’s time to dip in to the GatorNation recruiting mailbag and answer the questions you want to know. Because of the amount of questions we’ve received, we won’t be able to get to all of them today, but we encourage you to ask your questions on our Insider fan forum, The Chompions Club.
impulse36: Based on the first three games, is it likely that Dominique Easley, Sharrif Floyd or Matt Elam enters the NFL draft this April? Assuming they don't, does that affect the number we can recruit or the positions we recruit? Do we recruit the same number and just "encourage" more transfers?
A: It's too early to say which of the three listed could potentially enter the NFL draft. At this point it shouldn't affect how many prospects UF can take in this class. Florida is looking to sign 23-24 players and Florida is likely planning to lose at least one of the three you mentioned. Situations like this have a way of working themselves out. Whether it's future transfers, injuries or other situations the public might not be aware of, the coaching staff already has a good idea of how many players it will be able to take in this class.
anoblejax: Sure looks like we could use a lot of help at OT and receiver. Any word on remaining possibilities for 2013?
A: With Nebraska transfer Tyler Moore, Georgia commit Trenton Brown and former Florida commit Rod Johnson all still in the mix, Florida will be fine along the offensive line. Don't forget about Michigan guard commit David Dawson either. The Gators are still pursuing Dawson, and there is still a long way before signing day. The Gators also have commits from Octavius Jackson and Cameron Dillard. As for the wide receiver position, Florida has four commits with three ranked in the ESPN 300. Florida would only take another receiver if he's a projected difference-maker next year such as Laquon Treadwell or Marquez North. Both players are expected to visit Gainesville for a game this season.
gator2369: Do you think the development/maturation of Jeff Driskel increases our chances of picking up one of the top remaining WR prospects? Specifically, do Treadwell and North take a better look at the Gators given the likelihood that Driskel will start for their first two years on campus?
A: There is no question quarterback play will be a part of the equation for these two electric players. The Gators haven't necessarily torn it up in the passing game yet but you can certainly see the improvement from games one through three. As the passing game develops, this could very well become one of the determining factors for North and Treadwell. The key for these two will be getting them on campus and letting them see Florida's offense up close and personal.
GatorT51: With OL commitments from Octavius Jackson and Cameron Dillard, and considering the transfer of Max Garcia (who is redshirting), how many more OL do we take? And what are our chances with Tyler Moore, Trent Brown and Rod Johnson?
A: With several top guys such as Brown, Dawson, Johnson and Moore still available, Florida could sign up to two more linemen in its 2013 class. With the Gators being tight on numbers, however, they might wind up signing one. As signing day nears, it will be interesting to see how the Gators want to use their remaining slots. The Gators, in my opinion, have a great shot at landing either Moore or Brown and are still very much in the picture for Johnson. Like I said earlier, don't count out Dawson, either.
eastorwestgatorsarethebest: Can we expect a visitor list for the Kentucky game?
A: There will be a more up-to-date list on the GatorNation message board as the game approaches, but some of the top recruits expected have already confirmed they will be in attendance. A majority of Florida's current commits are expected, but four-star defensive back Jalen Ramsey, teammate of Florida quarterback commit Max Staver, is planning to attend. In addition to Ramsey and Staver, four-star defensive tackle Greg Gilmore will also be taking an official visit to UF this weekend.
