GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- In case you missed Florida's latest demolition derby on Monday night, this just in -- the Gator basketball team is pretty good. With success come some accolades, which can ultimately lead to defections. It's the college sports circle of life.

We'll start with some accolades and notes from Monday night, courtesy of our friends at ESPN Stats & Info: All five Florida starters scored in double figures as the Gators improved to 9-2 this season (6-0 at home). ... Erving Walker leds all scorers with 19 points. ... Florida shots 10-of-21 from behind the arc and has made at least 10 3-pointers in 9 of 11 games this season. The Gators lead the nation with 123 made 3-point shots. ... Florida started the game on a 24-4 run and led 46-22 at the half. ... Mississippi Valley State fell to 0-16 against ranked teams since the 1996-97 season.

Poll position
The Gators moved up to No. 12 in the coaches poll, No. 11 in The Associated Press poll.

Ford’s NBA draft stock watch (Insider)
ESPN Insider Chad Ford takes the temperature of several NBA prospects, including Florida's Patrick Young, who has four double-doubles this season after zero in 37 games as a freshman. Ford offers a very nice evaluation of Young's ability and exactly what is attracting NBA scouts. Ford (and therefore The AggreGator) will keep track of Young and fab frosh Bradley Beal all season, as both look to be in the NBA draft mix. There's more I'd like to share, but trust me, this is the kind of content you buy an Insider subscription for. Makes a great Christmas gift, too!

St. Joseph's grad wants to play for UAB
Former Saint Joseph's center and current University of Alabama-Birmingham graduate student and practice player Todd O'Brien wrote an open plea on SI.com on Monday, stating his case for a scholarship release the Hawks refuse to grant. Why does this matter to Florida fans? The Gators play UAB on Tuesday, Jan. 3 in the O'Dome. We'll see if O'Brien is wearing a suit or a uniform.

Roster breakdown: Joakim Noah
Nick Friedell of ESPNChicago assesses each member of the Bulls before the season begins. Noah's biggest challenge, Friedell says, is staying healthy throughout the condensed 66-game regular season.

Now onto basketball recruiting, and it's tough luck for Florida's Class of 2013 …

Kansas lands ESPNU 60 guard Brannen Greene (Insider)
Dave Telep reports that 6-foot-6 shooting guard from Monroe, Ga., picked the Jayhawks over the Gators, Louisville and UConn. Greene visited Florida on Sept. 3 along with fellow five-star recruits power forward Chris Walker (6-10/195, Bonifay, Fla./Holmes County) and point guard Kasey Hill (6-0/170, Eustis, Fla./Montverde Academy). Walker and Hill remain high on Billy Donovan's wish list. Greene says he'll try to get Walker to join him at KU.

OK, let's make the easy leap over to football recruiting (it was inevitable, hoop fans) ...

What's the latest with Nelson Agholor (Insider)
One of Florida's top wide receiver targets (heck, one of its top overall targets), Nelson Agholor, reportedly had a great visit with the Oklahoma Sooners last weekend.

From football recruiting to college football coverage ...
College Football Live Extra: Top Conference
Here's a shocker: Jesse Palmer thinks the SEC will have the best showing this bowl season, going at least 6-3. He says the Gator Bowl is "another tricky one to call" but thinks Will Muschamp will have the Florida defense "ready to go."

Again, just one bite, but it's deserving. USA soccer hero and Gator great Abby Wambach will have to clear a little more room on her mantle.
