OT Burton enjoys visits to Ole Miss, UF

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- City College of San Fransisco offensive tackle Pierce Burton visited Ole Miss and Florida this past weekend and is planning to make his decision sometime this week.

Burton said both visits were filled with the normal recruiting activities.

"I got to Ole Miss on Friday, we went out to eat, met all the coaches," Burton said. "I went off with my host Evan Swindall. The next day they showed me around the facilities, talked to the head coach, then got on a plane and went to Florida. I got there around dinner time, then went out with my host Matt Patchan. The next day I saw all the facilities and what not -- then got to watch practice."

After touring the facilities Burton met with a few of the Florida coaches.

"I had a one-one-one with coach [Fank] Verducci and with coach [Will] Muschamp," he said. "Basically Muschamp just said that there could be an immediate need for me and told me how I could really help the program. He told me that I was the only junior college lineman they were going after."

Burton, who already has visited Kentucky, Indiana and West Virginia, said that after his visit to Ole Miss and Florida that he is starting to get things narrowed down.

"I have it down to two or three; they both are definitely in the hunt," Burton said. "They gave me some things to think about. I'm going to sit down here and kind of make a decision with my family and my coach."

Burton, who is from Sacramento, Calif., was planning on announcing Wednesday but could wait until later in the week if he hasn't made up his mind.

Though he said he has started to narrow things down, Burton said a wrench got thrown in to his plans today.

"I just got an offer from Arizona State," Burton said. "I'm going to evaluate that, because I just got that offer today and I actually know their coaching staff pretty well."
