Watch lists: College Football Performance Award Linebacker Trophy, Butkus Award, Rotary Lombardi
Last week’s stats: Eight tackles, one tackle for loss
Comment: Solid performance in season opener. The Gators’ leading tackler in 2011 starts the 2012 season on top.
FB Trey Burton
Watch list: CFPA Running Back Trophy
Last week’s stats: Two catches for 12 yards
Comment: Burton had little impact offensively against Bowling Green. He did commit a personal foul penalty, though.
P Kyle Christy
Watch list: CFPA Punter Trophy
Last week’s stats: Averaged 38.5 yards on four punts
Comment: Christy put two punts inside the 20 against the Falcons. His longest punt, however, was only 40 yards.
WR/KR Andre Debose
Watch lists: CFPA All-Purpose Trophy, CFPA Kickoff Returner Trophy, CFPA Wide Receiver Trophy, Biletnikoff
Last week’s stats: Averaged 15.0 yards on three punt returns and had one kickoff return for 38 yards
Comment: Debose nearly broke a punt and kickoff return for a TD. He made no impact on offense, though. He also committed a personal-foul penalty for hitting the Bowling Green punter out of bounds.
DE Dominique Easley
Watch list: Ted Hendricks Award
Last week’s stats: One tackle, one tackle for loss, one sack for minus-5 yards
Comment: Easley and the rest of the pass rushers had trouble getting to the quarterback on a consistent basis.
S Matt Elam
Watch lists: CFPA Defensive Back Trophy, Jim Thorpe Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy
Last week’s stats: Two tackles
Comment: Elam was used as a blitzer several times. Bowling Green threw a lot of shorter passes, which didn’t allow him to make as much impact as he normally would.
DT Sharrif Floyd
Watch lists: Bednarik Award, Bronko Nagurski Trophy, Outland Trophy, Rotary Lombardi Award, Walter Camp Award
Last week’s stats: Four tackles
Comment: Solid day in his return to his natural position. He led all defensive linemen in tackles.

Last week’s stats: UF rushed for 220 yards
Comment: UF’s OL struggled in short-yardage situations. Have to improve there.
LB Jelani Jenkins

Comment: Had really good coverage on pass into the end zone, too.
LB Lerentee McCray

Comment: Reed tied for the team high in catches. He had a big catch on an early third down, but he also committed two false start penalties.

Last week’s stats: 2-for-3 on field goals, making kicks of 34 and 51 yards and missing a 27-yarder
Comment: Sturgis’ 51-yard field goal was the sixth field goal of 50 or more yards in his career. That’s a school record.
