WR Adams, Gators part ways

August, 15, 2012
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Four-star wide receiver Rodney Adams (St. Petersburg, Fla./Lakewood) and the University of Florida have officially parted ways. Adams confirmed the news on Wednesday via text message.

After former Florida wide receivers coach Aubrey Hill abruptly resigned on Aug. 3, Adams said he was opening things back up but also added that he was still committed to the Gators.

Losing Adams could pave the way for another four-star wide receiver to join Florida's class. Seffner (Fla.) Armwood athlete Alvin Bailey unofficially visited the Gators on Wednesday and received a scholarship offer by the time his visit concluded. Bailey also holds offers from Florida State, Oklahoma, Michigan and Georgia.

With the loss of Adams, the Gators now stand at 19 verbal commitments including wide receivers Ahmad Fulwood, Marqui Hawkins and Chris Thompson.
