GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Four-star defensive end DeMarcus Walker (Jacksonville, Fla./Sandalwood) was the highest rated player at Florida's Friday Night Light's camp. The 6-foot-4, 271-pound athlete said he enjoyed his time at The Swamp.
"It was a good time," Walker said. "It was a nice environment, a nice place. I got to spend some time with the coaches and my teammates, so it was a good time."
"It's the same ol' same ol'. They just want me to be a Gator," Walker said. "When it comes to my decision day, we will see what hat I put on."
Florida head coach Will Muschamp made it a priority to spend extra time with the talented defensive prospect. Muschamp was seen several times making his way over to Walker during the course of the night.
"He just wants me to be a Gator," Walker said. "He didn't really talk much about football, he just talked to me about life after football. Gators take care of Gators. He said a degree from Florida gives you an opportunity to get a job when you are done playing football."
The No. 24-ranked player in the country admits Alabama and Florida are standing out to him, and he has tentatively set his decison date of Aug. 24 to make his decision. Though Walker said he will commit, it might not be set in stone.
"I'm just so confused when it comes to that date that when I decide it might not be over with," he said. "I might change, but I just want to get all of this over with."
Earlier on Friday, the Gators received a commitment from four-star defensive end Antonio Riles (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer). Walker says he knows he will have to compete no matter where he goes, and the Riles commitment doesn't affect what he will do.
"I don't care," Walker said of the Riles news. "I don't care who's in front of me. I don't care if it's Ndamukong Suh, I'm going to beat you out for a spot."
