GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida promoted Emily Bastel to head women's golf coach, the school announced Friday. She replaces Jan Dowling, who resigned May 26 after three seasons.

Bastel, who played on the LPGA Tour for three seasons and was an All-American at Michigan State in 2002, was hired as an assistant coach last season. The 31-year-old Bastel also has been an assistant coach at Michigan State and Duke.
