GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- With just under eight months remain until signing day, the Florida Gators have already secured commitments from 16 four-star recruits. The Gators have addressed key areas of need such as offensive line, wide receiver and the defensive front seven.
With Florida's summer camp opening on Saturday, this will be a chance for Florida to not only identify key targets for the 2013 class but also evaluate players for the 2014 and 2015 classes.
Though he will not participating in camp because of a nagging groin injury, ESPN 300 defensive end Antonio Riles (Lawrenceville, Ga./Archer) is planning to visit Gainesville this weekend. Three other ESPN 300 prospects -- defensive tackle Greg Gilmore (Hope Mills,S.C./South View), defensive end Ebenezer Ogundeko (Brooklyn, N.Y./Thomas Jeferson) and quarterback Asiantii Woulard (Winter Park, Fla./Winter Park) -- are expected to participate in Florida's camp this weekend.
Woulard isn't the only quarterback prospect competing this weekend, as Heys McMath (Woodberry Forest, Va./Woodberry) and 2014 prospects D.J. Gillins (Jacksonville, Fla./Eagles View), Chris Durkin (Youngstown, Ohio/Ursuline) and Jason Driskel (Oviedo, Fla./Hagerty) will attend camp. Durkin is the second cousin of Florida linebackers coach D.J. Durkin, and Driskel is the younger brother of Florida quarterback Jeff Driskel.
In addition to Gilmore, other defensive tackle prospects expected include Florida commit Caleb Brantley (Crescent City, Fla./Crescent City) and prospects Eric Mayes (Sarasota, Fla./Booker), Bobby Leath (Lake Wales, Fla./Lake Wales), Michael Love (Clearwater, Fla./Countryside) and Devyn Salmon (Plant City, Fla./Plant City). Brantley will be joined by another Florida commit, running back Adam Lane (Winter Haven, Fla./Winter Haven) this weekend. Another key target, linebacker Alex Anzalone, is set to visit UF with his mother and brother next weekend.
Big-time 2014 offensive line prospect Orlando Brown Jr. (Duluth, Ga./Peachtree Ridge) and another 2014 offensive linemen, Corey Martinez (Tampa, Fla./Tampa Catholic), are expected to be in Gainesville this weekend. Two more 2014 prospect with multiple offers, cornerback D.J. Smith (Marietta, Ga./Walton) and tight end/linebacker Vincent Jackson (Tampa, Fla./Jesuit), should also be in attendance for camp.
Defensive end Davin Bellamy (Chamblee, Ga./Chamblee), Woulard and Mayes are just some of the visiting prospects who could earn a Florida offer with impressive performances.
Several other prospects, including several Florida commits, are expected to be in attendance at some point during the upcoming week for camp. They include defensive tackle Joey Ivie (Dade City, Fla./Pasco), Florida linebacker commit Daniel McMillian (Jacksonville, Fla/First Coast), Florida wide receiver commit Ahmad Fulwood (Jacksonville, Fla./Biship Kenny), Florida center commit Cameron Dillard (Canton, Mich./Canton), Florida guard commit Josh Outlaw (Lithonia, Ga./Martin Luther King), defensive tackle Derrick Calloway (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee), 2014 wide receiver Johnnie Dixon (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla./Dwyer), 2014 defensive tackle Demarcus Christmas (Bradenton, Fla./Manatee) and Florida safety commit Keanu Neal (Bushnell, Fla./South Sumter). Florida wide receiver commit Marqui Hawkins (Columbus, Ga./Carver) is still trying to work out the details for a visit and is unsure if he will be able to attend.
