GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Jackson (Miss.) Prep quarterback Ryan Buchanan visited Florida with his family on Friday. The 6-foot-3, 203-pound signal-caller said he enjoyed his trip to Gainesville.
"I loved it," Buchanan said on Saturday. "I got to know Coach [Will] Muschamp and Coach [Brent] Pease better. I just got a good feel for the whole university."
With schools like Auburn and Alabama recently picking up quarterback commitments, Buchanan could feel pressure to make an early decision, but he says that's not the case.
"I talked to my dad about it, and my plan from the beginning was to go see multiple campuses and get a feel for everything and compare places to other places," Buchanan said. "Now that some guys have committed, I don't feel pressure to commit, but I definitely want to speed it up and find out as soon as possible."
As for his future plans, Buchanan said he would like to make a few more trips before announcing where he will attend college.
"I'd like to go visit Oklahoma State this upcoming week and maybe Tennessee," he said. "Hopefully Florida is not going to pressure me in to making a decision. They'd like me to [decide soon], but if I have time I'd like to come back to camp and see some of the guys I might be playing with, like some of the commits that are already here at Florida in the next couple weeks. I'd like to do that."
Originally Buchanan was planning to make his decision at the end of July, but now he says he will likely move up the date.
"It was going to be at the end of July," he said, "but honestly if I feel like this is the right school, no matter which school that is, I'd like to go ahead and make that decision and get it over as soon as possible."
In addition to his Florida offer, Buchanan also holds offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State and Auburn.
