GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida's budding women's lacrosse program continues to make history. The Gators were received the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament on Sunday, another first for a program just in its third year of existence.

Florida (17-2) will play host to Albany (12-5) on Saturday at 1 p.m. ET. It's the Gators' second straight tournament appearance. UF defeated Stanford in the first round last season, the first-ever NCAA tournament lacrosse game played in the state of Florida. The Gators then fell to visiting Duke in the second round.

This season, Florida will look to reach the Final Four for the first time. If they get that far, the biggest piece of history would hang in the balance. If Gators win the NCAA title, Florida would be the fastest program to do so. The Final Four, in Stony Brook, N.Y., will be televised by ESPN3.com, while the championship game will also be broadcast on ESPNU.
