GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Defensive end Jordan Jenkins (6-3/245, Hamilton, Ga./Harris Co.) was one of many top prospects who watched Florida State defeat Florida 21-7.
The four-star Jenkins, who is ranked as the No. 5 defensive end and the No. 61 player overall by the ESPNU 150, said he enjoyed his visit to Gainsesville.
“It was a great visit that exposed all elements of what Florida had to offer me,” Jenkins said. “I mixed in and got along with a good bit of the players and recruits there.”
Jenkins has recently named Florida and Alabama his leaders.
Was this official visit to Florida enough to pull the Gators even with or ahead of the Tide?
“I cant really say right now,” Jenkins said.
Jenkins plays defensive end in high school, but the Gators are recruiting him for their “buck” position. The buck is a hybrid defensive end/linebacker position that is currently occupied by sophomore Ronald Powell, Jenkins' host on the visit.
Jenkins said he wants to get some other things out of the way first before discussing position changes with his family.
“Me and my family wanted to wait a bit before we start talking about position changes and all that.” he said. “They want to sit down and get all the paperwork out of the way with me first.”
Jenkins will be playing in the Under Armour All-America game on Jan. 5, in St. Petersburg, Fla.
